What is your own Finnish treasure that you would like to see in the National Museum of Finland? Participate in the Search for the National Treasure campaign

What is the treasure that you would like to share with others and to preserve for future generations? The Search for the National Treasure campaign is searching for new and personal treasures in Finland. Some of the treasures found will be exhibited in the National Museum of Finland at the end of 2017. A national treasure is a personal, important and valuable thing or item. Monetary value or the traditional historic value are not of importance. A treasure can be a story told by grandparents, a family’s secret berry picking place, a memory from a music festival, or a certain atmosphere, item or a moment, for example. National treasures are being sought out through this website and on Instagram with the hashtag #kansallisaarre during the period from 31 December 2016 to 22 September 2017. During summer a treasure container will travel around Finland to showcase the different treasures shared by Finns and to exhibit interesting treasures from the collections of the National Museum of Finland.
